Eggs, part 2
Remember when I made blackened fish with a non-stick pan? Remember when it stank up the whole house? Remember when I woke up the next morning, and *I* smelled like nasty charred seasoning? Even after a shower? Ugh. Yeah, me too.
Gross.
Anyway.
Eggs. Part 2.
(Here is eggs, part 1.)
You were warned. More was coming.
I think this was what started it. My personal own egg craze. I wanted to throw something together quick and the hubbs was eating something of his own. I threw together some bacon, peppers, turkey roast, and eggs, of course. It was delicious.
Remember my turkey roast? Remember my meatloaf? These are major players in this post.
Mm. I make up the turkey roast and keep it in the fridge. This was just seasoned with thyme and olive oil.
This meatloaf I forgot to even put an egg in... just veggies and 2 pounds of ground meat, turkey and beef. :)
One time, I added meatloaf instead of turkey. Oh yum.
One day I was really hungry.
So... turkey, bacon, meatloaf, peppers, and three eggs later...
Oh, for the love.
Then, for a bit more protein, I added turkey to my morning mix with sweet potatoes, onions, and sausage. Well, that was just incredible.
One evening, I cooked up just onions with turkey and eggs. Except I forgot I was going to be around people that night. Yikes. Sorry, folks.
One of the sweet gals from the gym gave me some pork sausage links to try... so I did.
They were quite yummy, but I was not too ecstatic about the corn flour in there. Oh well. Better than a lot of pork sausage, and it was nice to know the origin of the pigs. More on pork sausage later, though.
Just another daily breakfast with about double the amount of sweet potatoes I usually eat. I must have been prepping for a cardio day.
Then, just yesterday, I finally procured my farm-fresh eggs. Ahh.
See that lovely golden color? They match my sweet potatoes!
You better believe this was amazing. :)
I am also back to my U.S. Wellness Meats pork sausage. Seriously guys. This stuff = the bomb. (I just said "bomb" on my blog. Will that get me blacklisted? Investigated? Let's hope not.)
I have ordered three different times from them so far... and no, I'm not affiliated with them, meaning I don't make money if you all order from them. Just an honest review here. Although, I think they do offer an affiliate program.. Hm. Interesting.
Anyway, they produce an amazing email newsletter complete with tips, tricks, recipes, and more. If you follow them on Pinterest, they offer all sorts of Paleo suggestions for their products. They also have super fast shipping, and the meat I've gotten has always been still frozen.
Plus. It. tastes. incredible.
This pork sausage literally is a party in your mouth. Playing all your favorite songs. No Taylor Swift allowed. Black lights included.
And see that list? Pork, salt, rubbed sage, red and black pepper. That's it.
I was really impressed the first time I made this. Every other sausage I have seen is a gray, lifeless color. This is a beautiful pink. Mmm.
I think this alone has turned me into a morning person. Maybe. I still hesitate to call myself that, but it's becoming more true. The clock rolls around to 9:00pm and I start getting antsy to go brush my teeth. Or I fall asleep sitting up. Sad.
But if the sausage is not enough...
Hello, bacon! Not just any bacon. And not just any nitrate-free bacon.
Nitrate-free, sugar-free bacon.
Hey-oh!
Anyway, again, here's the website, please go check them out. They have smartly aligned themselves with not only the Paleo/primal community, but also the CrossFit community. To be honest, there's quite a bit of overlap there. However, I am impressed by companies that know what they are doing in the marketing/promotion/social-media aspect.
They also pride themselves in their grass-fed meats. Read more here about grass-fed meats.
Anyone else hungry now? I think I'll make eggs for supper.... ;)

Walmart.
Let's set the scene.
(PS. Use of the word "black" is for descriptive purposes only. So you know in what way I heard all this. In no way at all am I racist... but maybe there's a reason for some of the common stereotypes.)
Joel's in the car, patiently waiting for me to come out with groceries. He was so patiently waiting that he just had called me to see if I was ever going to escape that place.
Hung up the phone, swung down the next aisle, passed someone, and heard: mmm hmmm. You know, the way black people say that. It might have been that certain expletive they say like that too. The one that starts with D.
He was talking on the phone, nbd, probably was talking to them.
I keep walking. I hear "excuse me?"
I keep walking. I hear "excuse me?" again. Louder.
Uhm what? as I turn around.
How do I find a girl like you? (As he's checking me out up and down) You lookin' good! (Insert something that I can't remember about white hair...) You from here?
Not originally... Iowa.
Many black people in Iowa?
Not so much, no.
So... you probably wouldn't be open to carrying black babies?
(Internal gasp. Hel-lo. Hold up my left hand.) I'm married.
So am I. Don't matter.
Yeah, it does.
Oh, you're happily married?
Very.
Well, marriages break up all the time.
Oh do they? Not ours.
Are you sure?
Yes.
Oh, okay.
And he walks away.
He wasn't creepy, probably 23-25 years old, probably no taller than 5"8", was decent looking, and was dressed fairly nicely, in reality. But, really? You want me to carry your babies? And ask me three times if I'll give up my marriage?
Wow.
Is my ba-donk-a-donk that big that I'm attracting black guys? I think it's time to hang up the push-up bra and start doing some squats or something.
I was looking all over for my other experience with Walmart on my blog... apparently it happened PB.. pre-blog. Where those Postville (IA) meat-plant raids were happening and they were carting out illegals left and right. And storing them in an auditorium 3 blocks north of our apartment in Iowa. And it's sunny noon as I'm in the Waterloo Walmart. And this Hispanic guy with nasty teeth and a tracking leg-bracelet followed me out to my car. The one time I parked like a mile away. And wouldn't let me put my own potting soil in my trunk. And hardly let me shut the door. And walked my cart back to the store grinning and waving as I speed-locked my doors and flew out of the parking lot.
That one actually required shoe shopping to get past the queasy stomach feeling.

It will NOT die!
So here's a cute story about Frank the Wasp.
Tuesday (yesterday) the internet guy was at our house.. great wonderful. Anyway, he must have let in a wasp... and so I noticed it just happily buzzing away by the window by my computer... We'll call him Frank.
eek. So I call Joel and ask him where he was. He's like, on 41, why? "Cause there's this wasp downstairs..." *grimace* *curl up into the fetal position* *tremors of fear*
And he comes home, gets the flyswatter (really, how could a person get that close to a wasp?), and promptly gets it. And puts it in the trash upstairs in the kitchen. My hero.
So today, I get home from my interview, have lunch, go to throw away my napkin... and well, looky-here. Stupid thing is still alive. Guess I won't use that garbage for the rest of the day... good thing we have a garbage can with a lid on it. So he "kills" it again. My hero.
And now tonight after meeting... well, helllooooo, Frank, dearest... and sitting in the same spot as the first time. I shriek, Joel finally hacks on the stupid thing with something metal, and he takes the garbage outside this time.. my hero. :)
DIE, stupid thing! No wonder I hate wasps. I think they can smell fear.
I guess the thing that worries me the most is I would miss hitting them with the fly swatter.. and then I would run away. And then they would attack me. And then all their wasp buddies would come and attack me. And then I would curl up and die, because its my biggest phobia... and I'm such a big wimp so I'd probably have a heart attack. urk. Bugs in general give me the creepies.. but then when they can hurt you?

New Address!
So we're moving, obviously, since I'm going to be done with school here in May.
Goodbye, Waterloo.
I didn't want to put new address information on here as this isn't private, but I wrote a note about it on Facebook, so if you're a "friend" of mine, you can still get that.
:)
Oh, and disgusting experience tonight. I went to Perkins with Lisa after mtg because we both slept too long to have supper beforehand. Our waitress was this greasy 25-ish woman who hadn't washed her hair in a week it looked like. She was obviously under some kind of influence as she was actually sweating on her hands and face, sniffling, and over-compensating with her words/weird actions. I was nearly going to suggest leaving after we ordered... but I held off. Thank goodness the manager person brought us our food and not her. It was bad enough when she came with the tickets.
We hand-sanitized it up and now I'm nursing a Sprite, as I actually felt like I was going to barf when I got home. Ew.
I'm still really grossed out. But at least my stomach is soothed.
