Funny thing.

... this weird feeling at the back of my throat.

Faintly feels like I'm getting sick.

Funny. I don't have time for that.

Meh.

I've got a 4-5 pg paper (not including preface and title page), short story, & a 30-day notice to write, a year-end print to submit to the lab, be creative with some sort of guerilla marketing idea, and an official wedding price list to finish.

But meh. I'll procrastinate a little more.

I always said...

... that I would pay for parking.

Seriously. The arts/photography students always are carrying gear from school to vehicle and vice-versa. And I refuse to park on the other side of campus and walk with bags, purse, water, etc in tow for half a mile. Well not really a half a mile... but especially when it was cold through out the winter, that's a long way to walk. I literally would pay $10 a month to have preferred parking stickers for the program.

So I parked in visitor parking and just took my un-attached sticker off of my dash, so they couldn't attach it to my student account. (I have a source that told me they don't track the license plate numbers...) Visitor is conveniently the same distance from the building as the best spots in the student lot.

Well, yesterday it bit me in the butt. Hard. Okay, not.
I got a $10 ticket for parking in visitor, and $5 for not having a sticker. Hmm.

So if they don't attach it to my student account, can I "forget" to pay this before I graduate?

I always said I'd pay for preferred parking if they'd let me...

Well, now.

I don't post a lot of political "stuff" on my blog because even though I consider myself a realist, political issues these days are downright depressing to me...

But this is spectacular. And should be read by everyone. Everywhere.

Except Lisa. But I forgive you.

My new favorite song!

"My Skin" by Natalie Merchant

Oh and I've got all my portfolio images ready to go to the lab... and I've got a grand total of 14, 2 more than I actually need for the minimum. It's a real relief to me, as most people are struggling to find at least 12.

I'm ready for the weekend and Joel to be here!

Quick update...

So we're going full speed ahead on this mortgage business.. We were able to lock in at 4.5%... so we're ecstatic! :) We're (by we, I mean Mary Jo and Joel..) getting a kit from a titling company to work up the offer, so we can proceed. I have no idea what's happening or even supposed to happen, so we're pretty lucky to have some help figuring that all out!

Mom and Dad were here Sunday night through this morning to help me out with a few assignments. It was great to see them again, and be with the whole family.. Too bad Joel's in Wisconsin. I should get photos up from that soon. They turned out well.

I babysat the Simons' kids for an hour or two tonight and then stayed for supper.. I thought it went pretty well for my first time (ever!!) babysitting...

School's coming to a close reeeaaaally quickly. The date I've set for myself to submit all my portfolio images to be printed at the lab is less than a week away. Eeek.. In addition, I have to do some work for my wedding final (a wedding consultation including price lists, wedding contracts, and booking the wedding with a "bride"), my portrait final in the studio, my final painter image, a final test and assignment for my studio promotions and marketing class. Thankfully, my portrait instructor changed our assignment from a business plan to a 3-5 page paper... Heck, I'll take 1-2 hours of work over 3-5 days anytime!

Busy and tired as ever, but doing well. Now, don't expect blog postings for a looong time. :)

Cause I feel alone..

Once again, thank you Pandora.

I'm really missing Joel... can't wait to see him tomorrow.

Throw me a Rope by KT Tunstall

I want you between me and the feeling I get when I miss you
But everything here is telling me I should be fine
So why is it so, above as below,
That I'm missing you every time

I got used to you whispering things to me into the evening
We followed the sun and its colours and left this world
It seems to me that I'm definitely
Hearing the best that I've heard

So throw me a rope to hold me in place
Show me a clock for counting my days down
Cause everything's easier when you're beside me
Come back and find me
Cause I feel alone

And whenever you go it's like holding my breath underwater
I have to admit that I kind of like it when I do
Oh but I've got to be unconditionally
Unafraid of my days without you

So throw me a rope to hold me in place
Show me a clock for counting my days down
Cause everything's easier when you're beside me
Come back and find me
Whenever I'm falling you're always behind me
Come back and find me
Cause everything's easier when you're beside me
Come back and find me
Cause I feel alone

Portrait field trip

So we went down to Ames and Des Moines for a class trip to tour some studios and basically get away for a day or two.. or something. Because we don't have anything to do here, like work on our portfolios or scrambling for our last assignments...

My neck feels so good after riding in one of those realllly uncomfortable tour buses. Or not. Thank you, pillow. Thank you, Blackberry. Thank you, Pandora. Thank you, headphones.

Anyway, it was fun, we learned a lot, and we got to drop by the Jordan Creek Mall there in Des Moines... mmm. We sooo need a Wet Seal in Appleton.

Here are some photos of my purchases... maybe I'll even post some photog stuff we were learning/observing.. I would be the one to come home from a photography field trip and only post photos of my shopping items.. :) The watches and Gladiator sandals are from Wet Seal and the scarves from Vanity.

Okay. Fine.

Well, I wanted to make a grand entrance and write in depth when I had time, but since ya'll are so darned impatient and were going to start rumors about who-knows-what... (Don't go there..) this will just have to be quick and dirty. Party poopers.

Yes, we got approved for our mortgage to buy the duplex we were looking at. We're super excited, already bought a fridge (since we need our own appliances) and have started looking at stoves. Washer and dryer will magically appear within the next month (thanks again for the wedding present, you-know-who :D).

We got a slamming great interest rate (I'm pretty sure... but our mortgage rep hasn't called me back with that final number.. it was amazing last Friday anyway) with a 15-year loan... We're supposed to close around May 1st, which is when we can move in. Or well, Joel, until I get up there.

So yes, we're excited!

The rooms are a bit smaller than our apartment now, and the layout is generally not as nice, but it will be amazing to actually have storage space in a basement... with laundry right there! Thank you dear bank, I now need no more rolls of quarters.

And no, it's not what you all were thinking. Don't hold your breath. :)

Exciting things are coming....

just wait a little longer.. :)

Oh, and I did get a Blackberry... but not the Pearl. I got the Curve, since the qwerty keyboard was mostly why I wanted it in the first place.
